Haunted Ghost Tours
by Tanya Robbins
You can find ghost tours in many cities especially those that have historic
buildings and places. Haunted ghost tours provide a great alternative to the
usual vacation activities such as going to the beach, skiing, or visiting theme
parks. Going on a ghost tour is one of my favorite things to do when I travel.
One of the most memorable is a New Orleans ghost tour that my ex boyfriend and I
took a few years ago when we were still together. I love New Orleans because
it's a unique city with a lot of mystics surrounding it. It's supposedly the
most haunted city in the US. A lot of people died in the city and its
surrounding areas throughout history from wars, diseases, slavery, as well as
natural disasters. So it's no big surprise that ghosts abound there.
There are more than one New Orleans ghost tour to choose from. Most of them tour
the French Quarter which is the most haunted area in the city. There are many
buildings there that have significant hauntings, and a few of the stories are
really scary, involving gruesome murders and tortures. Some of the buildings are
hotels where guests stay just to experience the hauntings. Although I like ghost
stories I don't think I'm brave enough to stay in a haunted place :)
So my boyfriend and I decided to go on one of the haunted ghost tours in New
Orleans. We walked the streets of French Quarter and stopped in front of the
different haunted buildings as the tour guide narrated the hair-raising ghost
stories. At one point while we were standing in front of a dark building I felt
something tugging at my shorts, but when I turned around there was nothing.
My boyfriend was standing in front of me so it was not possible for him to have
done it. I was like, wtf? I didn't say anything though, since the ghost tour
guide was talking. Then I felt a chilly wind blowing on me although it was in
the middle of a sultry southern summer. Needless to say I had goose bumps an was
a little creeped out.
I didn't tell my boyfriend about it until the ghost tour was over. He wasn't
creeped out and actually thought it was kinda cool that I felt the presence of a
spirit from the underworld on a haunted ghost tour. So the next time you visit
New Orleans be sure to go on on of the ghost tours. Who knows, you might
experience more than you bargained for :)
There are other places throughout the US that are quite famous for being
haunted, making ghost tours a very popular attraction. One of them is
Gettysburg, PA. This is the site of a historical battle during the Civil War,
which is believed to be very spooky and haunted by the ghosts of many soldiers
who were involved in the battle. So don't forget to book a Gettysburg ghost
tour if you're planning to visit this great town.
Savannah, GA is another one of the most haunted cities in America, and you don't
want to miss a Savannah ghost tour. Like Gettysburg, Savannah is also a historic
battleground site in the Civil War. The city was also plagued by outbreaks of
yellow fever. One of the famous haunted buildings in Savannah is the Sorrel Weed
House, which was featured on Sci-Fi Channel's "Ghost Hunters." So a Savannah
ghost tour is a must if you're a ghost story lover. You can choose from a
variety of walking and trolley ghost tours.
Have a wonderfully spooky day!
