Learn Wicca For Beginners
by Tanya Robbins
Are you looking to learn Wicca for beginners? Is that something you've been curious about? Wicca
and witchcraft have always been an interest of mine. It must have rubbed off of my mom.
She used to secretly wish
she could be a witch flying around on a broomstick throughout the night,
whipping up magick potions and exacting furious revenge on those who scorned
her. Wouldn't that be cool?
What about yourself? Have you always wanted to learn about Wicca? Have the dark arts
ever captured your interest? Maybe you thought of conjuring a demon or casting a
spell on your worst enemy. C'mon, admit it! :) But that
doesn't mean you're crazy or evil, and nor is Wicca.
Wicca For Beginners Made Simple
Most of us have wished to have magical or supernatural powers at least once, whether we care to admit it or not. I remember whenever my dad
was mean to me, I had wished that my mom knew a magick spell or two to turn him
into a frog or something so that he couldn't hurt me anymore, ha ha! (I know I
was really naughty as a kid but I don't think I deserved to be whipped until
I had welts on my thighs).
Anyway, I believe we're all intrigued by witchcraft and magic to a certain
degree. It's just human nature. We can't help but wonder if there truly is a
supernatural realm out there, beyond the familiar physical plane.
Does the thought of cleansing your home of evil, or creating a protection spell
get your curiosity flowing? We see so much of this in entertainment these days.
Take the television shows "Charmed" and "Bewitched" for example. They
must have started a whole
slew of folks wanting to learn about Wicca for beginners.
I mean every mother and daughter were probably hopping online to find out
what kinds of magic were actually feasible. When I was little the internet
didn't exist yet, but I remember my mom would read books similar to Harry Potter
to me, and it got me so excited that I wished I could learn some of the magick
and spells. Today I do the same with my little girl, but the World Wide Web
makes it even more fun and exciting 'cos there's many sites that contain
graphics and other flashy special effects besides basic information on Wicca for
beginners.
Oh, by the way, I didn't mean to imply that Wicca and witchcraft are just for
women. The fact is, anyone can learn Wicca for
beginners. You don't have to be female to enjoy this way of life. You may be
wondering what's the difference between Wicca and witchcraft. Okay, time
for a little background and history lesson. Don't worry though, I'll make it short and you
won't be tested on it :)
A lesson in Wicca for beginners won't be complete without knowing the history of
Wicca. Unfortunately, there's still much debate about its history and origin,
and I won't go into details here. One certain thing is that Wicca is modeled
after late Victorian era occultism, while the spiritual content is influenced by
other pagan beliefs as well as some Buddhism and Hinduism.
So,
Wicca is a pagan and nature-based religion with code of ethics,
rituals, and seasonal observances. Wiccans also worship a god or goddess. While their followers
are often called witches, witchcraft is not exactly the same thing. Witchcraft
is more a way of life rather than a religion. It doesn't formally involve any
ritual or ethics, and the followers can be people of different religions, even
atheists. Wicca incorporates several aspects of witchcraft such as magic spells,
herbalism, and divination. All magical activities in Wicca are only for good purposes
like love, protection, and healing. So, it's sad that many ignorant people believe all Wiccans
and witches are evil. These people should learn Wicca for beginners and be
enlightened.
Because of people's ignorance and prejudices, witches and Wiccans were persecuted throughout
history, and many innocent women and children died as a result. That makes me sick to my stomach,
and makes you wonder who the evil ones really were, doesn't it?. To a certain degree the persecution still goes on
even today. That's why I strongly urge you to check out a few
books or websites about Wicca for beginners just to gain some knowledge and
understanding even if you're not interested in becoming a pagan yourself.
So visit your local library or get online and learn what paganism is about. One
site I like is
Witches' Voice which is a neopagan news and networking site.
Underground Witchcraft Secrets is a great resource offering an eBook and audio-visual material that will answer your questions on witchcraft, Wicca, and spell casting.
When you type in "wicca for beginners" it will conjure up a variety of web sites
:) So why not learn about Wicca and discover what it's really about. You may be surprised to
learn what actually goes on in the lives of true Wiccans and witches.
Blessed Be

PS - Hey, I was pretty good huh? Wrote an entire article without a single swear
word. Aren't you proud of me, dad?! :p
